The Panama City-Bay County Airport and Industrial District ("Airport District") is an authority created and established as a political subdivision by Special Act in 1945.
The Airport District consists of five persons who are citizens and residents of Bay County. Two members of the Airport District are appointed by the City Commission, two members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners; and the fifth member is chosen by the four appointed members. All terms expire in two years.
The Airport District was created for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, financing, operating and maintaining airport projects and any other development of land owned or leased by the District and necessary to the economic welfare of the inhabitants of the district and which will promote the economic, commercial and industrial development of the district.
