Commissioner Jonathan E. Wilson was appointed to the Panama City Commission on December 23, 1987. He was elected to a two-year term in 1989. In 1991, he was elected to a full four-year term and has been re-elected every four years since.
Commissioner Wilson has resided in Panama City for 54 years. He and his wife, Jewel, have two daughters, Annetta Wilson and Tyra Michelle Owens, and a son, Jonathan Wilson II. Commissioner Wilson has been a self-employed barber since 1955, and is the owner of Wilson Brothers Barber and Style Shop in Panama City.
Commissioner Wilson attended public schools in Washington County before moving to Panama City in 1952. He received a Florida Certification from the School of Barbering at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida. He has served the Panama City community in his representation on the following boards and committees:

Mr. Wilson has been a supporter of the Dixie Youth Baseball League and a member of the Football and Basketball Boosters Club for Mosley High School. Commissioner Wilson is a deacon in the St. John Baptist Church of Panama City, a Master Mason, member of the NAACP and SCLC, and a past member of the Concerned Citizens Political Action Group.
