Introduction:

Jeffrey E. Brown began working for the City of Panama City as the Assistant City Manager in September 2004.  The Assistant City Manager supports the City Manager in the daily operations of the organization primarily by overseeing five departments and one division.  Those departments are Leisure Services, Employee Services, St. Andrews Project, Marinas, Community Development and the Land Use Division.  The Assistant City Manager becomes Acting City Manager when the City Manager is out of the office for an extended period of time.

Jeff has over sixteen (16) years experience in local government, with over twelve (12) of those years at the senior management level.  Jeff began his career at the Board of County Commissioners for Polk County, Florida as a Planner. He worked as a Planner working on the Comprehensive Plan, current zoning and developed the County’s HOME and SHIP affordable housing programs.   He then went to work for the City of Auburndale, Florida as Assistant to the City Manager.  He was the City’s liaison to the Community Redevelopment Area Agency Board by coordinating the CRA’s work program with the City’s Public Works and Utilities Departments.  Jeff was named the City Manager of Frostproof, Florida in 1999 where he served for five and half years.

Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 1988.  He received a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Florida in 1998.  He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and is an ICMA Credentialed Manager.  He is a graduate of the 2006 Class of Leadership Bay Program.  He is on the Steering Committee of the Junior Leadership Bay Program.

Jeff  has a 10 year old son.
